November 2021 Zoom MCLE: Common Estate Planning Disasters and How to Avoid Them

Women Lawyers Association
Presents

Common Estate Planning Disasters and How to Avoid Them

November MCLE: Well, maybe “disasters” is too strong a word. “Mistakes” or “severe oversights” that result in a decedent’s testamentary wishes being thwarted may be more accurate. However, for the individuals involved in stressful and expensive estate litigation cases after the death of a loved one, “disaster” oftentimes feels like the more suitable word. This CLE will discuss avoiding certain common mistakes (don't worry, I won't cover esoteric tax issues) that seem like basic common sense, but all too often cause litigation. For attorneys who practice in the estate planning field, care and diligence in the client interview process can minimize the chance of problems arising in these areas and maximize the chance of a client’s testamentary wishes being attained.
